Data Analyst

Juniper Unmanned is expanding its team of data analysts to cleanse and transform sensor data sets into insightful information products. As a member of the Operations team, you will use your technical and analytical skills to add value for our clients.  We’re looking for individuals who are natural evangelists for sensors, data and the insightful information they can provide.  You’ll work closely with the Sales and Product Development teams to develop, test, and propose solutions that combine various large data sets and produce quality deliverables for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Create. Use processed sensor data to create quality data-derived deliverables
  • Analysis. Apply your skills for data product creation to provide industry leading data analysis and products that solve client need
  • Data Management. Manage data storage, backup, delivery, and access across IT networks.
  • Support Product Development. CRecommend sensing and analytics solutions.
  • Review. Ensure our information products meet technical requirements.
  • Learn. Grow your skills by learning new software and hardware platforms and stay current with known software and hardware systems.
  • Communicate. Communicate with Sales, Product Development, Data Processing, and Flight operations teams to maintain effective workflows and project outcomes.
  • Build relationships. Partner with internal and external clients to develop new products and improve existing products.
  • Documentation. Enter and maintain personal and company records into the Juniper Unmanned operations record system.
  • Grow. Be willing to become an expert in a technical domain or in a client industry.

Qualifications

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in GIS, Land Surveying, Remote Sensing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a challenge until it is solved
  • 2+ years of experience using current GIS/CAD platforms to provide insight to a business
  • 2+ years of experience working with LiDAR, RGB Imagery, Multispectral Imagery, Thermal Imagery, and other related data
  • Good interpersonal, communication, data processing, and data analysis skills
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Global Mapper, ArcGIS, Photogrammetric processing, LiDAR processing, Point cloud classification, and Microsoft Office and other industry standard software platforms

Preferred:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in GIS, Land Surveying, Remote Sensing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Survey Technician / Chief (FT or Contract)

Juniper Unmanned is a remote sensing and analytics company that uses drones to conduct aerial surveys and inspections. We help business managers save time and money by using emerging sensing technologies in the Utility, Transportation, Engineering, and Oil & Gas industries.

As a Survey Technician / Chief at Juniper Unmanned, you will contribute by using your ground survey experience to design and lead surveys that improve the data quality of our aerial surveys. If desired, you will have the opportunity to learn more about drone-based operations and become a drone pilot. You’ll help design and implement solutions that demonstrate the value of remote sensing. You’ll conduct field data acquisition with a variety of tools including drone-based sensors. You’ll frequently travel across the country to acquire high quality data in a safe, effective, and compliant manner. Survey Technicians take direction from the Flight Group Leader and Project Manager, who provides all information needed to accomplish a mission.

Travel Required 5-10 days each month, often overnight. Home most weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Professionalism. Represent the company with a professional, positive, can-do attitude.
  • Mobility. Travel throughout the United States, 25-75% of the time. Flexible schedules and limited outside engagements are helpful.
  • Collaboration. Work with team members to determine the best solution for the project.
  • Data Acquisition. Conduct field data acquisition and operate equipment such GPS, RTK, total stations, and other data acquisition equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Problem-solving. Solve real-time problems, both technical and mechanical, and perform limited equipment repairs in the field.
  • Readiness. Maintain a level of readiness and in-depth knowledge on the unmanned aircraft systems being used by Juniper Unmanned.
  • Training. Maintain the appropriate certifications and qualifications necessary for the operations performed by the company.
  • Responsibility. Custodian the equipment owned or operated by the company by keeping it secure, safe, and treating it responsibly.
  • Documentation. Enter and maintain personal and company records into the Juniper Unmanned operations record system.
  • Flexibility. Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the team’s success.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Survey Technician or Crew Chief
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC) and creating stakeout plans
  • Understanding of control networks & experience locating benchmark points
  • Able to explain the conceptual basis of GPS land surveying
  • Working knowledge of DOT based route surveying along with various types of key surveying activities (boundary, topographic, as-built construction staking)
  • Proficient with modern Data Collectors and Trimble GPS equipment
  • Adaptable to emerging technologies such as laser scanning and drones
  • Prior field work for land surveying including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA, topographic, etc.
  • Able to maintain all surveying equipment including data collectors, GPS surveying gear, field surveying supplies, tools, etc
  • Ability to understand and interpret survey data
  • Confidence with new technology
  • Ability to problem solve and perform technical analysis
  • Understands proper checklist, manual, and SOP use and integration.
  • Demonstrate competency in operational logistics and field operations.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Successful completion of a background check and i9 e-verification

You will use GPS land surveying equipment to:

  • Support drone-based surveys and inspections
  • Collect ground survey data to be merged with aerial drone survey data.
  • Locate monuments or set at every change of direction in the boundary of the subject lot and/or witness monuments on a water boundary, preserve boundary or other inaccessible location
  • Locate and dimension all relevant improvements adequately
  • Properly upload data files, as required and appropriate to the equipment being used
  • Perform procedurally correct elevation determination

Solution Engineer
